Getting to and from the hotel

Please note: the frequency of public transport, journey times and estimated costs are purely as a guideline. This information changes constantly and we cannot guarantee its accuracy.
 
  - Free shuttle from the Gare de Midi train station to Hotel Van Belle on request
  - Thalys (intercity trains), Eurostar, local train connections:  9 minutes’ walk.
  -  Car-parking : we can offer car-parking for €15 per day. We recommend making a reservation. You will have to pay if you want to park on the road.

Gare du Midi/Zuidstation ­ 850 m

Free shuttle from the hotel on request
The Hotel Van Belle shuttle is available from 9am to 11pm.
Please call the hotel on +32 (0)2 521 35 16 as soon as you get to the Gare du Midi/Zuidstation.

The meeting-point is outside the station, under the “Tour du Midi/Zuidertoren” skyscraper. Follow the exits marked "Tour du Midi/Zuidertoren" and you will see the building about 30 yards away, opposite the exit.
You can also take the "Place Victor Horta/Victor Hortaplein" exit. When you come out turn right and the meeting point is 50 yards away.

By foot
Time required: 8 minutes
If you want to walk then take the "Tour du Midi/Zuidertoren" exit and go straight on towards "Place Bara/Baraplein". From there keep going up "Rue Limnander/Limnanderstraat" for 500 yards and then on into "Rue Otlet/Otletstraat". Walk up for about 300 yards and turn right into "Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg". The hotel is 40 yards up on your right.

By tram
­Time required: 9 minutes travel time but allow 20 to 30 minutes
­Frequency: a tram comes along every 10 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes in the evenings and at week­ends.

Price
­A ticket costs €2 from a ticket machine or €2.50 if you buy it on the tram. The ticket lasts for 1 hour.

Head towards the "Tram" exit (look for the "T" sign)

Take tram 82 towards "Berchem" station. Get off at the 3rd stop "Porte d’Anderlecht/Anderlechtsepoort". Walk up "Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg" and the hotel is 150 yards up at no. 39.

By taxi
If you want to take a taxi then you will find taxi ranks outside the station entrances. The journey takes about 5 minutes and costs about €10.

Brussels International Airport, Zaventem (15 km/9 miles)

By train ­ the best deal, recommended!

There is a train from Zaventem Airport to the Gare du Midi/Zuidstation four times an hour. It takes about 25 minutes and costs €7.80 per person.

By taxi

Cost: Approx. €50
It takes about 30 minutes to get here by taxi, under normal traffic conditions. In the morning and evening rush-hour on weekdays the journey can take over an hour.
Taxis in Brussels can take a maximum of 4 people.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport (60 km/37 miles)

By bus ­ the best deal, recommended!
There is a bus every 20 to 30 minutes from Charleroi Airport to the Gare du Midi/Zuidstation. It takes approximately 1 hour. Tickets cost €14 and can be purchased from a machine, from the driver or over the internet: www.brussels­city­shuttle.com

By taxi
from the airport ­ if money is no object!
Cost: approx. €130
It takes about 45 minutes to get here by taxi, under normal traffic conditions. In the morning and evening rush-hour on weekdays the journey can often take over an hour.

Grand-Place/Grote Markt 1 200m

By foot
Time required: 12 minutes
When you leave the hotel, turn left down the "Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg". Head straight over the big crossroads into the "Rue d’Anderlecht/Anderlechtsestraat". Keep going for 150 yards until you reach the "Rue Van Artevelde/Van Arteveldestraat". Turn right into the "Rue des Riches Claires/Rijke Klarenstraat" and walk for 250 yards until it leads into the "rue des Teinturiers/Verversstraat". Keep going for another 75 yards and then turn left into the "Rue du Marché aux Charbons/Kolenmarkt". Head down there for 150 yards until it leads into the "Rue de la Tête d’Or/Guldenhoofdstraat" and at the end of that street turn right onto La Grand-Place/Grote Markt.

Taking the shuttle from the hotel
Our shuttle service operates between the Stock Exchange and the hotel at the following times:
Leaving from the hotel: 6pm – 7pm –7.30pm – 8pm ­ 8.30pm
Returning from the Stock Exchange: 9pm – 10pm – 11pm

When you leave the hotel, turn right down the "Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg" and walk down to the "Liverpool" bus stop (approx.100 yards). Take the no. 46 bus towards "De Brouckere". Get off at the Stock Exchange ("Bourse/Beurs") - the 3rd stop, and walk to La Grand-Place/Grote Markt (approx. 550 yards).

From Hotel Van Belle to the European Parliament

By metro
Time required: 25 minutes travel time but allow a maximum of 35 minutes.
Frequencies: A train leaves approximately every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the evenings and at weekends

When you leave the hotel, turn right down the "Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg" and walk down to the "Clemenceau" metro station (approx. 500 yards). Take line no. 2 or line no. 6 towards "Simonis Elisabeth".
 
Get off at "Trône/Troon" (6 stops). The European Parliament is approximately 800 yards away at Rue Wiertz/Wiertzstraat 60.

From Hotel Van Belle to the European Commission (Schuman)

 By metro

Time required: 28 minutes travel time but allow a maximum of 35 minutes.
Frequencies: A train leaves approximately every 10 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes in the evenings and at weekends.

Take line no. 2 or line no. 6 towards "Simonis Elisabeth".Get off at "Arts­Loi/Kunst-Wet" (7 stops) and change to line no. 1 towards "Stockel" or line no. 5 towards "Hermann­Debroux" and get off at "Schuman" (2 stops).

Take tram no. 82 towards "Berchem" station. Get off at "Gare de l’Ouest/Weststation" (6 stops) and walk over to the metro station (opposite the tram stops). Take metro line no. 1 towards "Stockel" or line no. 5 towards "Hermann­Debroux" and get off at "Schuman" (10 stops).

From Hotel Van Belle to the Atomium

Time required: 15 minutes travel time but allow a maximum of 30 minutes.
Frequency: A train leaves approximately every 6 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes in the evenings and at weekends.

Tram
Time required: 38 minutes travel time but allow a maximum of 45 minutes.
Frequencies: A train leaves approximately every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the evenings and at weekends.

When you leave the hotel, turn left down the "Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg". Head on into the "Rue d’Anderlecht/Anderlechtsestraat" (approx. 150 yards) [until you get to the tram stop]. Take tram no. 51 towards "Heysel" and get off at "Heysel" (final stop, 19 stops). The Atomium is approximately 400 yards’ walk.

From Hotel Van Belle to Zaventem International Airport ­ 15 km/9 miles

By train ­ the best deal, recommended
­Time required: a train leaves from the Gare du Midi/Zuidstation for Zaventem Airport four times an hour. It takes about 25 minutes and costs €7.80 per person.

By foot from the hotel to the Gare du Midi/Zuidstation ­ 12 minutes

How to get there
When you leave the hotel, turn right down the "Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg". Walk approx. 40 yards until you get to "Rue Otlet/Otletstraat". Walk down there for approx. 300 yards until you get to "Rue Limnander/Limnanderstraat". From there turn left into "Place Bara/Baraplein" and it is approx. 500 yards to "Tour du Midi/Zuidertoren".

By tram

From the hotel to Brussels South Charleroi Airport (60 km/37 miles)

By bus ­ the best deal, recommended

There is a bus every 20 to 30 minutes to Charleroi Airport from the Gare du Midi/Zuidstation. The bus stop is at the junction between Rue de France/Frankrijkstraat and Rue de l’Instruction/Onderwijsstraat, next to the station exit. It takes approximately 1 hour.
